Lodging

We are getting married on a very popular weekend! San Francisco is hosting an event for the America’s Cup World Series and our city by the bay will be filled to the brim with sailors, yacht enthusiasts, and tourists—so if you’re choosing to stay for the weekend we encourage you to book soon as hotels will sell out.

We have reserved wedding room blocks at four locations to give our guests some options.

1. InterContinental Mark Hopkins
Address: 1 Nob Hill, San Francisco, CA 94108
Distance: This will be the location of the ceremony, reception, and after-party at the Top of the Mark.
Booking: Call the reservations department at (800) 662-4455 and mention that you are with the Matthews-Rosenberg wedding party.
Cost: We have limited space at a negotiated rate of $179 per night for a standard king or double room. Once spaces are filled, you may book your room at the best available rate. Rates will continue to go up, so we encourage wedding attendees to book soon.

Travel Info

Fun fact: Among major U.S. cities, San Francisco has the coldest daily mean, maximum, and minimum temperatures for June, July and August. Or at least that’s what wikipedia says. One of our favorite comedians, John Mulaney, has been known to joke that the city seal of San Francisco should be a guy running back inside to get his jacket. And the running joke among San Francisco locals is that you can always spot a tourist: they’re the ones wearing gift-shop sweatshirts that say “San Francisco” on them because they didn’t pack warm clothes. What we’re trying to tell you is that San Francisco can be cold, even in August. Then again, it could be sunny and lovely. So pack layers.

As for travel information, you can fly in to either the San Francisco (SFO) or Oakland (OAK) airports; both of them are easily accessible by BART. SFO is a bit closer and more convenient. If you find a really good deal, you could also fly into San Jose (SJC), but it’s about a 50 minute drive up to San Francisco from there, so unless you plan to rent a car, it’s probably not worth it.

There’s so much to do in San Francisco that any list we could share with you is bound to leave out something awesome. But here are some of our favorite places to eat and sites to see while in SF:
